Artist Statement
All of Steve’s life he’s had a knack for art. For years Steve dabbled in ironwork, making gifts for family and friends. In 2000, Steve started Hilltop Metal Works, an ornamental ironwork and blacksmithing business. He is a former founding partner of Out Of Our Hands.
Steve is a member of the Artist Blacksmith Association of North America (ABANA) and the state chapter, PA Artist Blacksmiths’ Association, where he was voted “Iron Master” seven times. He is juried member of the Lehigh Valley and Reading-Berks Chapters of the PA Guild of Craftsmen, as well as being State Juried.
The Philadelphia Zoo has purchased his plant hangers for use in the zoo. In the fall of 2003, many of Steve’s pieces were bought for use in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Village. The city of Philadelphia has hired Steve to demonstrate his blacksmithing at Ben Franklin Days, in October 2005, and in March of 2006 for the Speaker of the House Ball.
