As we’re nearing the end of April and peope are really starting to enjoy visiting the town, that can only mean one thing…the Emmaus Farmer’s Market is about to begin! Held in the KNBT Bank parking lot (right across the street from us!) from 10am-2pm every Sunday until Thanksgiving, the Farmer’s Market has proven to be quite a happening place. In fact, one may find it difficult on Sundays to drive through the Main Street without stopping multiple times for families crossing the street in order to get their fresh produce (don’t let that scare you away because of parking, there are lots of spaces behind businesses that are always open). All Emmaus business owners are very excited when they see lots of people strolling around town, and the Farmer’s Market has certainly motivated tons of walkers to get out and about on Sundays!

Out of Our Hands will be adjusting our hours starting May 1st to be open every Sunday from 10am-2pm while the Market is going on. Stop by and browse our new inventory or just to say hello! We are looking foward to eventually offering some events and mini art projects for youngsters on Sundays…more info on that to come.

Our Sunday hours will be lasting until the end of the year (January 1st, 2011 is when we’ll make the switch back to our winter hours). We are looking foward to offering more shopping hours to our customers. We’ll see you soon!

In celebration of the Easter holiday, we are now offering 25% off our ornately decorated Pysanky Eggs! We carry standing and hanging eggs, all decorated by hand so that no two are alike. April 30th is the last day for this offer, so stop in today to see our gorgeous selection created by master Pysanky artist Donna Marie Yob.

A pysanka (or the plural form pysanky) is an eggshell decorated using a written-wax batik method. The egg yolk is carefully removed by blowing it out through a small hole in the shell. Using a stylus or pin-head, the artist “writes” out the design using bees wax and then dyes the tiny areas with many vibrant colors.

These eggs date back to pre-Christian times and were originally decorated with nature symbols to worship the Ukranian sun god and to celebrate rebirth during spring. With the acceptance of Christianity, the meaning behind Pysanky eggs was changed to celebrate Easter and the rising of Christ. Typical beeswax designs include flowers, fruit, geometric patterns, and Christian symbols.

4O1 Creative has yet again shown their true support by featuring our website for one of their personal ads. Shown is a crisp shot of a computer monitor with the company’s latest website featured (OOOH), complete with the clever tag line, “Handcrafted Websites.” We cannot thank 4O1 enough for showing us off. :)

Check out the photos…we are directly across from Emeril and an ad for the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem!

While you’re at it, do yourself a favor and visit 4O1’s website www.401creative.com to see their professional work first-hand. Not only are we lucky enough to have them as designers for our new site, but they also designed Lehigh Valley Style’s chic webpage as well as other thriving businesses in the Valley. And on top of being stunningly talented, they are undoubtedly the most humble and sweet guys I’ve ever come across.
