My craft was born in the 70s in Houston, Texas when I created a collage of an antique car made from watch pieces. It was framed and was auctioned off at my children’s elementary school.

After being encouraged to create more pieces, I began to make collages of anything mechanical, including any kind of automobile, airplane, motorcycle, offshore drilling platforms. I even created angels with the watch gears and parts.

After doing this for many years, I decided to do something different with my watch pieces. I came up with the idea of embellishing standing and hanging clocks with vintage found watch parts on the faces. I have moved on to creating acrylic, slate, metal, and even crystal clocks with this design technique to create a unique piece for your home.

I’m always amazed there is a new part of life to be learned in each day. Observing all the differences and similarities that exist create a challenge of the simple versus the complex. Life stimulates the senses and evokes various emotions that form enigmatic creations that ultimately represent my interpretation of the world around me.

My first experience with papermaking was in a week long intensive workshop at the Women’s Studio Workshop in Rosedale, NY. I studied the Nagashizuki style of Japanese papermaking. Since 1988, I have been expanding my knowledge of both Eastern and Western papermaking techniques and materials. I combine various media inclusions to compliment the visual ambiance at hand.

My principle subject is butterflies and moths. The pixel-like nature of their color cells lends itself to the buildup of dots in each piece. I especially enjoy making them large, causing the viewer to look closer.

I have been selected to represent Berks County in the Art of the State exhibition at the State Museum in Harrisburg, PA three years in a row. I have been a member of the Guild of Papermakers in Philadelphia for 15 years and a member of the Pottstown Area Artists Guild.

Michelle is a self taught mixed media artist with an emphasis on papier mache, air dry clay, polymer clay, wire armatures and fabrics. She was born in San Diego and since she was a little girl, she has been drawn to the world of imagination and fairy tales. Her newest collection of EBs (Eclectic Beings) is her soul expressing itself in a childhood innocence and whimsical eccentricity. Each EB is unique and totally handmade. These unique one of a kind masterpieces will speak to you and warm your heart in a very special way.

Michelle currently works as a paralegal and spends most of her free time in her studio creating artistic treasures. She is convinced that this is her calling and hopes to bring happiness to all those who purchase her work, as she believes this to be the highest compliment and reward an artist can receive. Michelle enjoys spending time with her husband, Allen, family and friends.
