Pauline Suder is an international award winning photographer whose interests lie in nature and the great outdoors. Being a frequent traveler, especially throughout the United States and the U.K., her photographs center mainly on wildlife and landscapes.

Pauline Suder’s greeting and note cards are made using her actual photographs, which are encased in top quality holders. The outside of the card can be plain or can be special occasion cards: Happy Birthday, Sympathy, Happy Holidays, Thinking of You, etc. The inside of the cards are always blank. The artist handwrites on the back the location of the scene, and signs the card, indicating that it is her original photography.

The cards are less expensive than those that are mass-produced and sold in stores, and on top of that, they are original works of art!

Inspired by his twenty-five plus years experience in film, fashion, fine art, and commercial photography, Calvin has focused his creative talents toward nature photography. Recognized for his fine art and commercial achievements, Calvin has become inspired with a more natural scene since his move to a country setting.

Anyone can take a picture; however, Calvin Finley brings to photography the same creativity as a master painter brings to his canvas. As a painter tries to elicit emotions from the viewer, Calvin seeks to elicit emotions as you view his work. The emotions involved in Calvin’s photography are a dual process. He is aware of the environment around him and captures the mood of the scene to share with the viewer. For example, Calvin has captured the forest’s serenity in the beautifully photographed piece entitled “Tranquility” from the Hidden Forest Series. There are times that a particular scene elicits and emotional connection with the environment and he sets his creative perspective on capturing this mood.

Calvin transitioned to digital photography in 2001. He waited until the digital camera was technically capable of a performance level that met his exacting quality requirements. Even though he switched to digital cameras he has not changed his processing methodology. Simply stated, Calvin switched his darkroom to a digital age, embracing this change as a different way of doing things which also turned out to be environmentally friendlier.

Calvin brings traditional darkroom techniques to the digital era. To bring a picture into the realm of art takes time, creativity, and years of experience. Everything he performs in the digital darkroom is completely manual. He uses techniques such as masking, dodging, montage, and layering; no auto-fix button in Calvin’s digital darkroom. It is only with his years of traditional experience that he so successfully creates art that speaks to a person’s feelings, sentiment, and fantasies.

“Photography should stir the emotions from within. You want to connect with the photograph; there should be a sense of balance, color, harmony, and a perspective that is pleasing to your eye.” –Calvin

Cari started seriously taking photos in 1975, when she moved to Mendocino, California, in order to share the beauty of her surroundings to her family in Massachusetts. She developed a following of interested clients and had her photographs exhibited in the hospital and library. Cari began framing her own photographs and enjoyed the process, even though, at the time, framing materials were limited.

She then moved to Virginia, studied photography and worked for Olan Mills studios. She started to work at a frame shop, and every day was a visual treat of color, images and designs.

Now going full circle, she is back photographing the beauty around her, but with a new twist. Each of her photographs is a visual enhancement to a companion quote which together generate a poignant voice of personal expression.

After completing undergraduate studies at Kutztown University, I began working in the advertising and illustration field but never strayed far from fine art. With beginnings as a painter, I was accustomed to starting with a blank canvas and building the image from the empty canvas – art of addition. As my interest turned to photography, I found myself challenged with the art of subtraction – choosing what should be included and omitted in order to convey meaningful photographs.

I returned to college for a graduate degree in fine art photography. I have been working for the past year on a project I call “The Urban Landscape.” This landscape is the world around me – the fine details that at first glance, are mundane and ordinary. As we look closer we see the interconnection of man and the environment. This coexistence is the theme that runs through my work. I want to allow the viewer to create their own conclusion as they view each image.
